NCFC Bylaws

Article I: Chapter Name, Logo, Purpose

The North Central Florida Chapter will serve the aforementioned region and therefore take the name North Central Florida Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club. The Chapter’s logo will be designed & voted on by club members before any use & may be altered or changed over time only by approval of the majority of the chapter members. The Chapter will provide a forum for Studebaker owners and non-owners who express a great interest in Studebaker automobiles & The Studebaker Corporation. The corporation’s history, Studebaker preservation & restoration, & promotion of all Studebaker related items will be the club’s primary goal. The chapter will regulate meetings & social events and arrange tours & exhibitions for our region. The club will publish The Hogtown Headlights periodical while meetings are in session. The newsletter will be distributed among chapter members and potential members & will provide dates of meetings, tours, and information pertaining to the chapter.

Article II: Membership


Membership in the North Central Florida Chapter will be open to all members and only members of the Studebaker Drivers Club, Inc., according to the provisions of its by-laws. Persons meeting the above qualifications and paying dues in a timely manner will be named member in good standing. This status will remain as long as membership dues are renewed on an annual basis or the member transitions to an honored member status.

Active Member – Any person, as qualified above, with all rights and privileges extended including the right to vote and hold office in the chapter. A named active member and spouse pay only one membership fee and both have all rights and privileges, including the right to vote and hold office.

Honored Member – Any active member who reaches the age of 75 years shall become an honored member of the chapter in the year of his or her 75th birthday. An honored member and his or her spouse will become members for life in the North Central Florida Chapter Studebaker Drivers Club and will not be required to pay membership fees thereafter. All other rights and privileges, including the right to vote and hold office, shall be retained. In the event an active member has already reached the age of 75 at the time the honored member category is incorporated into the by-laws, dues which have been paid during the year will be returned.

Youth Member – Persons between the age of 11 and 15 sponsored by an active member but without voting privileges or the right to hold office. Persons age 16 and 17 and members of SDC will be extended voting privileges and the right to hold office.

Dues – Dues and dues schedules will be set by chapter members. Changes in dues or dues schedule will be submitted to the membership by the Board of Directors and must be ratified by a majority vote.

Expulsion – Expulsion may occur if an active member or honored member is deemed detrimental to the operation of the chapter. Charges must be presented in writing to the Board of Directors and to the charged member by certified mail. Expulsion may only occur 30 days after charges are presented to both parties. Expulsion powers will be reserved for the Board of Directors only.

Chapter Meetings – The North Central Florida Chapter will meet monthly. Times and dates of these meetings will be determined by chapter members and published in the chapter newsletter. Some monthly meetings may be suspended to allow off time for club members (i.e., December and summer months). These off dates shall be approved by the chapter before enacting.

Board of Directors – The Board of Directors will consist of seven elected officers and an editor appointed by the North Central Florida Chapter members

Article III: Duties of Officers

  • Chapter President – Will preside over all meetings and present votes to the chapter members. In the event of a split decision, the president will have the power to decide.
  • Vice President – Will serve as president in the absence of the president.
  • Secretary – Will record the minutes of each membership and board meeting. These minutes will be made available to the membership and will be submitted to the chapter editor for publication in the Hogtown Headlights newsletter.
  • Treasurer – Will collect membership dues and other funds for the chapter and disperse funds for various club functions. The treasurer will maintain financial records and make chapter income & expenditure records available to members at the chapter meetings.
  • Membership Director – Will be responsible for members’ records and keeping these records current. Changes of home address, e-mail address, or phone numbers will be directed to this officer. The Membership Director will make a mailing list available to the chapter editor.
  • Tour Master – Will seek venues and locations for chapter meetings and provide directions and/or maps to members to these locations.
  • Editor – Will edit, publish, & distribute the chapter newsletter “Hogtown Headlights.” The editor will keep mailing lists accurate with current information from the membership director.
  • Funds Raiser – Will conduct fund raising activities, other than the collection of dues, for the North Central Florida Chapter as approved by a majority vote of chapter members attending a monthly meeting.

Article IV: Policy

Administration of the North Central Florida Chapter will conform to the provisions of the by-laws of the Studebaker Drivers Club, Incorporated which takes precedence in the event of any conflict. The officers of the board will abide by the decisions of the Board of the Studebaker Drivers Club, Incorporated.

The North Central Florida Chapter assumes all responsibility, financial and otherwise, for any activities it conducts.

Any applications or dues received by the North Central Florida Chapter for the Studebaker Drivers Club, Inc. will be forwarded promptly.

The president of the North Central Florida Chapter shall have the authority to appoint committees, including the chair person, needed to plan and execute special events sponsored by the chapter.

Article V: Amendments

These by-laws can be amended by a two-thirds vote of active members present and voting at a chapter meeting. All changes are subject to approval by the SDC Chapter Information and Chartering Committee.
