NCFSDC Chapter Meeting The meeting was called to order by Michael Scarabino at 12:15 p.m. A motion was made to approve the old minutes, seconded and passed. The treasurer’s report: The club paid $XX.XX for the wood for our plaques and for shipping. The balance in our account is: $XX.XX T-shirts for the Zone Meet: The club voted to buy 50/50 blend t-shirts. On the front of the shirt will be a photo of the Studebaker taxi parked in front of the Meet Hotel. On the left sleeve will be a map of the Southeast Zone States. Rick will add the sleeve logo to Derwood’s disc for use by the t-shirt vendor. We will decide how many T-shirts to order (and sizes) at our November meeting. The Orlando Chapter ordered a total of 70 T-shirts. 52 shirts had been pre-ordered on registration forms. Derwood will find out the cost of the Meet shirts before our next meeting. We hope to keep the cost to attendees at $10 or less. Derwood said that the vendor can make Meet shirts as well as custom designed shirts on location using dye sublimation. He uses 100% cotton shirts. Registration for the Zone Meet: Edith brought a draft of the form and will bring the final copy to our November Meeting. She has addresses for the 1500 members in the Southeast Zone. Martha will buy postage. We will use the 50’s car stamps. Postage rates will go up in January, so we will mail the registration forms in late December. Banquet: The cost for the buffet for adults will be $28. The club decided to offer a children’s buffet at $14 per child rather than choose a children’s menu. Trophies: Jeff Rice brought a sample plank from the Old Studebaker Brothers Plant. He has a drawing and photos of the building. Jeff Rice & Rick Cortier will make a sample trophy and bring it to the December meeting. Jeff plans to sand the front and back of the planks and leave the edges slightly rough. Jeff will buy copper sheeting. The copper will be acid washed and etched with the Meet logo. A smaller plate will be affixed underneath with either 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. On the back will be a stamp of authenticity and possibly a felt backing. Jeff will make a provenience pack to go with each award. The graphic design machinery will be donated by Bondo Billy. Door Prizes: Martha asked again for donations. All club members can help with this. The prizes will be stored at Bob & Mary Cade’s house. Robert Brinker, a guest at our meeting offered to make four Florida themed door prizes. Registration packets: The Alachua County Visitors & Convention Bureau donated 120 sturdy bags for use at Registration. They also supplied several brochures about local attractions and will provide pencils, magnets and small items when they are available. Edith spoke with a Pepsi representative who said Pepsi will also provide goodies. We will fill our registration packets at the March meeting. Edith said Pepsi will also provide free drinks. Our next meeting is on November 12. We will meet in front of the Publix at The Villages at 11 a.m. for our Annual Mystery Drive. Charlotte and Bill Delli will be the hosts. If you are interested in the Turkey Rod Run at Thanksgiving, see Rick. He is in charge of parking for the Studebakers. Edith gave us an update on Charlotte. She is recovering well from eye surgery. Gerald Goodrich won the 50/50 drawing. Gerald won $19.00 The meeting was adjourned at 1:05 p.m. |
