NCFSDC MEETING MINUTES
March 21, 2004

The Chapter met at Floyd's Diner for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Floyd's is on Hwy. 441 in High Springs, FL. We all were excited to see a 1931 Teraplane parked in the front yard. After lunch, we drove to Coach Builders, a business owned by Don and Donna McCullen, NCFSDC members. Donna graciously provided us with drinks, cookies, and fruit. Our meeting was called to order in the front office at 2:00 p.m. by President Derwood Thompson.

The minutes of the February meeting were approved subject to the following corrections: Derwood, not Ronda as reported, was to research buying insurance for the Chapter officers, If the insurance is still available through the same company as offered two years ago, Ronda will write the check. There were two paragraphs in the minutes relating to insurance and the responsibilities were switched in one. The check to the Studebaker National Museum, authorized by the Chapter in 2001, was never written. Other checks from the previous two and one-half years were written but never sent.

The first order of old business was the contribution to the museum. Ronda noted that there is enough money in the bank account to send $2,000 to the national museum. It had been planned to sent the donation after the Florida State Meet in 2001. Most of it was from the proceeds from the Meet. The Chapter voted unanimously to send the donation. Ronda will send the check along with a note from the NCFSDC.

The next item of old business concerned the deposit that was made in the amount of $xx.xx but never credited to the Chapter's account. Martha Cade spoke to Amy at Martha Cade Bank on February 26, 2004 about the deposit. Amy said that she would send the problem to the Research Department, but Martha has not heard from her since then. Ronda will take over the responsibility for corrections of problems with the treasury accumulating over the past two and one-half years.

Everyone was reminded that the Georgia State Meet will be held April 2 through April 4 , 2004. The Chapter will be caravanning on 1-75. Anyone who wants to travel together will meet at Stephen Cade's house. We will leave Stephen's at 1:00 p.m. The caravan will stop at the Lake City rest Stop to meet any others traveling to Georgia. The caravan will leave the rest area at 2:00 p.m.

The final old business covered was related to refunds for the State Meet in 2001 that had not been sent. Martha wrote letters of apology to those who had not received their refunds. Ronda has received quite a few replacement checks for those not cashed during the past two and one-half years.

The first order of new business concerned the death of Roy Mays. The Chapter sent flowers to his wife Della. Orva Kaufman, Bob and Mary Cade, and Martha Cade attended the funeral in Crystal River, FL. It was reported that the funeral was a wonderful tribute to Roy and his work with the Boy Scouts. Roy was an active Scout leader for many years. The Chapter voted to donate $100 to the Boy Scouts. Individuals also can contribute. Ronda will pool the money and send it for the Roy Mays' Memorial.

Dave. announced that there was a car show on the 20th from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the Burdines parking lot. The proceeds will benefit Stop Children's Cancer.

Danny Thomas announced that a Studebaker lover from Nova Scotia was browsing the web and found the Chapter site. He e-mailed Danny; he was looking for a car.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:25 p.m. There were 22 members in attendance. Three Studebakers were driven. These included a 1964 Daytona, a 1964 Lark, and a 1956 Flight Hawk.

**Notes:
There also were corrections identified for the 2004 roster. A revised roster will be distributed at the May meeting.

Much thanks to Martha for writing the minutes for the March and April meetings when I could not attend.
