March Meeting Minutes

The March meeting of the NCFSDC was called to order by President Edith Fifer at 1:00 p.m. on March 9, 2003. The meeting was held in the gazebo in Williston, FL because the mystery meeting and scavenger hunt had to be canceled due to heavy rain. The mystery meeting will be rescheduled in September 2003.

In spite of the bad weather, 21 members and two guests were present for the meeting. Studebakers included a 1947 Studebaker convertible, a 1957 Silver Hawk, a 1937 Coupe Express, a 1959 Golden Hawk, a 1963 GT Hawk, a 1964 Cruiser Lark, a 1964 Daytona and a 1963 Avanti.

The first order of business was the approval of the February Meeting Minutes that were published in the March edition of the Hogtown Headlights. A motion was made by Ronda Scarabino that the minutes be approved as published. Chades Grant seconded the motion and it was passed by a unanimous voice vote.

It was noted that there was an error in the treasurer's report that needed to be corrected in the previous newsletter. The corrected report will be published in the April edition of the Hogtown Headlights.

Bill Delli, membership director, reported that 20 families had not renewed their membership in 2003. From the amount of dues reported by the Barrie Thelin, treasurer, some dues may have been sent to her without letting Bill know. Bill and Barrie will compare notes. One last letter will be sent to those who have not renewed. If dues are not received, they will be removed from the NCFSDC roster.

The meeting continued with old business. President Fifer announced that Jeff Rice had made a copy of the disk with the club logo for anyone who would like to use it. Jeff indicated that he also had some pictures from the Orlando State Meet if anyone was interested.

President Fifer asked if anyone was keeping a record of pictures from the club
meetings. It was determined that no one was doing this and it was agreed that it would be a good idea, Jeff Rice volunteered to scan pictures to a web site he maintains so that the pictures would be available to everyone. Charlotte Delli pointed out that Danny Thomas posts pictures on the NCFSDC web site as well. Jeff explained that pictures take a lot of space on a web site and Danny might not want to keep the pictures on the club's site for a long time. Jeff's site is just for pictures and the pictures could be left on site for as long as anyone was interested.

Stephen Cade indicated that not everyone was active on the Internet and it would be a good idea to have a photo album. President Fifer recalled that a group picture was taken at the February meeting. It was considered a good idea to take a group picture for every meeting. It was agreed that a photo album would be started as well as posting pictures on both web sites. Stephen Cade volunteered Martha Cade for the album because she was good with albums. Martha was not present to defend herself, but members will try to persuade her to accept the "opportunity. "

The discussion changed to details about the upcoming April meeting which will be held jointly with the South Georgia Chapter SDC. The Jacksonville and Orlando chapters also have been invited, but President Fifer had not received a response from them. She will let Stephen Cade know when she has a count from the other chapters since he is hosting the meeting. The NCFSDC members present were polled and all indicated that they would attend.

Future meeting plans also were discussed. The May meeting will be held in Lake City, FL and hosted by Dee and Ernie Keith. The National SDC Meet will be held the last week in June. Before deciding whether to cancel a local meeting in June, President Fifer read an e-mail from the Jacksonville Chapter. The NCFSDC has been invited to a picnic in St. Augustine, FL on June 7, 2003. The club members present unanimously approved attending the picnic. President Fifer will accept the invitation and provide the information at the April meeting.

Charles Grant noted that the sleep over at the February meeting did not go as well as planned, but he would like to try it again next February. It might be possible to reserve the whole resort for two days. The club also could consider inviting other clubs to participate. It was agreed that the two day event will be held in 2005 with an overnight with only cabins reserved held in 2004. Charles and Ann will host the meeting. He will bring flyers with details to the next meeting. Stephen Cade stated that those who stayed overnight this past February really enjoyed a good time.

It was agreed that a meeting will not be held in July and the August meeting will be hosted by Sue and Gerald Tucker.

The last item of business was introduced by Stephen Cade. He asked if anyone was interested in hosting a Zone or National meeting. It was not clear what dates were available. Stephen will research and provide more information at the April meeting.

With no further business to conduct, the meeting was adjourned.
