MEETING MINUTES
NOVEMBER 2002

The November meeting of the NCFSDC was convened at 2:00 p.m. on November 3, 2002 at the home of Sue and Gerald Tucker.

21 members and three Studebakers were present. The Studebakers included a 1962 GT Hawk, a 1963 GT Hawk and a 1961 Hawk. Guests included Patrick Prather and Lance Rosenblatt, neighbors of the Tuckers. President Edith Fifer noted that they did not have Studebakers - yet!

The first order of business was to thank Sue and Gerald Tucker for hosting the meeting at their home and providing the delicious food for the meal. The country setting was very peaceful and the hospitality was excellent.

President Fifer announced that there were several items of business that needed to be discussed. She reminded everyone about the holiday party at the next meeting in Port Richey Florida on December 7, 2002. There will be a gift exchange and everyone should bring a wrapped gift valued at about $5.00. Bill Schettino mentioned that he had a very special gift to bring. Knowing Bill's skill with custom embroidery, it is sure to be a nice one. He wouldn't tell what his wrapping paper would look like. Everyone also will need to pay for the meal in advance so that one check can be paid to the restaurant. The amount of $13.25 per person includes the meal, tax, and gratuity. Members were requested to pay Barrie Thelin, Treasurer, in advance.

The treasurer's report was presented. (it can be found on page 10 of this newsletter.) Barrie informed everyone that a check had been given to Danny Thomas to reimburse him for the tent purchased in 2001.

President Fifer informed everyone that there will be a car show at the National Car Depot in Gainesville FL on the same day as the NFCSDC holiday party. The show will be in the afternoon and the club party in the evening. There is no registration fee if registration is provided before the day of the show. There will be a special Don Garlits award presented. Details will be in the December newsletter.

Studebaker story, have been received. President Fifer gave them to Bill Delli so that he can complete the kits with local information.

President Fifer then addressed the need to nominate someone for the post of Regional Manager with the national SDC. In the September issue of the Turning Wheels, a deadline of November 20th was established for receiving nominations. Frank Miles, NCFSDC member, contacted President Fifer and requested an endorsement from the club for his nomination. The Regional Manager acts as a liaison between the local club and the national club, helps new clubs get established, and helps existing clubs with problems. Stephen Cade motioned that the NCFSDC nominate Frank Miles for Regional Manager with a second by Roger Thelin. The motion was approved unanimously by a voice vote. Charlotte Delli, club secretary, will e-mail the nomination to the SDC.

New business was opened with a discussion about the election of officers for next year. At the October meeting, members had agreed to nominate candidates during the November meeting. President Fifer encouraged anyone who was interested in holding an office to participate. Martha Cade made a motion that the list of candidates to be considered for election include all of the incumbent officers. George Matt seconded. A poll of the officers was taken to ensure that they all wanted to be considered. The only incumbent who was not present was Ronda Scarabino and her husband Michael declined to accept on her behalf. Her name will be removed if she indicates that she does not want to be considered. It was agreed that the slate of candidates could be amended before a vote is taken at the December meeting. It was also stressed by President Fifer that the nominations are open to anyone who is interested.

George Matt discussed the signs that had been used to direct members to the meeting. He and his wife Georgia are donating the signs to be used for future meetings. Bill Schettino will pick them up on his way home since he is hosting the next meeting.

Hotels for the December meeting were discussed. For those members who do not want to travel home the night of the holiday party, there are hotels nearby.

The NCFSDC will try to establish a 6 month schedule of meetings at the December meeting.

The meeting was then adjourned.
