North Central Florida Chapter of the SDC
Minutes - September 9, 2001
UF Hotel & Conference Center - Gainesville, Florida
President Stephen Cade called the meeting to order at 1:40pm & the club was reintroduced. There were 36 members present. Last meeting before the big state meet!
The minutes of the last meeting were approved and put into record
Old Business
- Judging - Michael Scarabino passed around the revised judging form for the club members. Maximum points awarded on the sheets are 115 not 150 as previously stated. Michael also spruced up the judging forms with the SDC logo. List of Judges as of now: M. Scarabino, D. Fifer, G. Tucker, R. Mays, R. Thelin, S. Cade, & B. Montgomery. Michael or Stephen will contact the South Georgia Chapter about recruiting more judges if needed. Judges will meet in conference room prior to judging.
- Security - Roger Thelin has hired the 2 people to patrol the parking lot from 10pm to 6am on Friday & Saturday night. The Chapter will pay each $9.00 hour for their services
New Business
- Martha’s Help List - Martha Cade ran down the list of committees and reminded us of who is doing what & what areas need more volunteers. All seemed in order and new people signed up to help - Thanks!!
- Parking Lot Set Up - Derwood Thompson said the parking lot needed to be set up by 3pm on Friday 10/06. Jerry Fairchild offered to help build the stands to hold the signs for the parking lot. Roger & Barry are to make the signs.
- Trophies - Jerry Nowiki has finished the trophies, but we will also have a hard luck award & a long distance award presented at the meet. It will be taken care of!!
- Raffle Car Tickets - The club voted to have 2,000 more raffle tickets printed up at Beecher’s Printing. Norman Burgess said there are roughly 1,500 left from the original batch.
- Public Relations - Danny has sent faxes to all the local radio, TV & newspapers about the event. Lets hope one or more of the bite!
- Tee Shirts - State meet shits are in and they look great! Many thanks go out to Bob Marsh & BJ Raposa for the hard work! The club decided to price the shirts as follows: Small to X-Large $10.00, XX- Large $12.50
- Registration Report - Edith Fifer reports that there are a total of 96 pre registrations and 93 Banquet tickets sold.
- The Club the toured the facilities of the UF Hotel & Conference Center.
