President Stephen Cade called the meeting to order at 1:50pm
Old Business
Minutes of the December meeting were read and approved
Site for State Meet - October 2001
- Edith Fifer provided the following information on the Best Western as a site for the state meet in October.
1) The hotel need dates of the meet before a quote & requires contract to be signed.
2) There is plenty of parking and cars are allowed to park on the grass.
3) Food can be provided for a hospitality suite.
4) There are enough rooms to accommodate the state meet guests.
5) The hotel or the club can provide a DJ for the event.
Also, Edith & Don won first place at the Gainesville Street Rod Association Cruise in for the Humane Society.
- Marhta Cade provided the following information on The University of Florida Hotel & Conference Center (Doubletree)
1) The hotel also needed dates before an accurate quote can be made.
2) The hotel has plenty of parking and would be easy to arrange the cars in classes.
3) Either the hotel or the club can provide food for the hospitality suite.
4) Registration desk is available for club use as well as conference room, multimedia devices.
5) There is a restaurant & bar.
6) There is space for vendors.
7) Hotel is not available the last weekend of October
- It was mentioned that the Super Chevy Show is taking place the 3rd weekend of October and the state meet should not fall on that weekend
- David Lumpkins moved that there be a Studebaker watch judging at the meet and the motion carried. President Stephen Cade will contact the national meet watch judge, George Reitenour, about coming down for the state meet and helping with judging.
New Business
Miscellaneous
- Dick Quinn said the club should contact the City of Gainesville concerning a city sponsored car show.
- Tour Master Roger Thelin moved that the club vote between the 1st and 2nd weekend of October to have the state meet. It was unanimous to have the meeting on the 2nd weekend. Dates -- October 12,13, & 14th.
- President Stephen Cade suggested that club members send in any information about cruise-ins, car shows, etc. to the club editor Bob Marsh so it can go in the newsletter.
- Editor Bob Marsh said the club newsletter Hogtown Headlights will go out the first of every month.
Club Shirts
- Editor Bob Marsh presented a club logo he designed and it was approved by the club.
- Edith Fifer was elected to gather information about shirts for the club and will provide information at the next meeting.

Charles Grant will host the February meeting in Dunellon
Jerry Curtis suggested April meeting be held in Mount Dora.
March meeting held at Stephen Allens in Gainesville with cookout
